Tour of Caring Corp.

Caring Corp. is legendary for being a top research facility, offering cutting-edge technology and on-site patient care. They specialize in life-like prosthetics and models with warm, lab-grown cell-cultured skin. Upper floors house spacious hospital rooms overlooking the lovely grounds.

A map of the Caring Corp. campus shows how secure the facility is. Surrounded by walls, the center provides a natural setting with jogging trails and picnic sites. Research and manufacturing facilities are to the west on the lower floors. Patients and the main hospital areas are located to the east.

Take the Virtual Tour!

Come along with Dr. Kenneth Kerring to take a tour of Caring Corp., the "birthplace" of Betty, which is central throughout the entire Man-Made trilogy of books.

Meet the Staff and Models

Dr. Kenneth Kerring

Dr. Kerring welcomes you to come take the tour of the amazing Caring Corp. facility. The complex is so large, one needs to get around in one of the many electric golf carts.

Dr. Robert Kerring

Dr. Robert Kerring of the Robotics Lab, helped his father create models and prosthetics with warm, living skin on the outside of polycarbonate skeletal frames.

Betty

Betty was the first G-4 prototype to exhibit a unique 3-D printed face based on SSN decedents. All other G-4s had her hardware and frame. Otherwise, each was unique.

Rosy

Brave G-4 Rosy who risked her life to repair a generator. Sadly, she short-circuited but saved many patients' lives. She is on display in the Caring Corp. historical museum.

Felicia

Felicia was created two years after Betty. She tended to over-analyze questions more than needed when in the robot "School". Connie would then answer correctly.

Connie

Connie was created at the same time as Felicia and they tended to hang around together. They were very good friends with Betty when she worked at Caring Corp.

Kathy

Kathy among some other models were shipped out to other healthcare facilities when they were short on staff due to illness. Kathy looked after Mrs. Schwartz in Iowa.

Linda

Linda was first deemed defective after trying to turn her head 360 degrees and her skin could not tolerate it. Her memory was wiped, and was successfully reprogrammed.

Visit the Divisions and Centers

Surrogate Division

In the Fertility Center, Dr. Kerring is seen standing with a row of G-3 surrogates in various stages of pregnancy. The room next door is the embryo cryopreservation room.

Surrogate Division

G-3s in the nursery area of the Fertility Center, tend to their newborn infants for three days before they are certified for good health prior to going home to their parents.

Skin Division

Dr. Kelly Carvey grading cell-cultured human skin in the lab, which is often combined with cellular bonding paste and applied to absorbable sutures after surgery.

Skin Division

Workers harvesting thicker layers of cell-cultured human skin for use in critical wound care and post-operative surgery. Other organs and parts are 3-d bio-printed.

Prosthetics Division

Dr. Kerring is in his office as he examines a brand new prosthetic leg. Quality control is essential to ensure each prosthetic is working as intended for the patient.

Robotics Lab

Robert Kerring often tests out new ideas and innovations in the robotics lab. His tinkering often leads to interesting discoveries.

The "School"

After models are created, they enter the "Preschool" where they learn to sync their computer brains with body parts for natural movement, and their mouths for speech.

The "School"

Models attend weeks of classes taught by human teachers, where they learn to fine tune their voices and faces for natural emotional reactions.

At the Museum & Gift Shop

Model Evolution Display. Metal G-1s with mono voices. G-2s sported polycarbonate shells. Clone-like G-3s had new cell-cultured skin. Diverse G-4s are as they are today.

G-4 Charging Beds

Caring Corp. patented a beautiful charging bed that the G-4s could directly plug into. They feature a comfortable form-fitting design, with luxurious satin sheets.
